How players see the game determines how they play it.
The FMC Read Index is a way to understand how clearly a player reads the game.
The Read Index reflects clarity
It shows how early and accurately a player recognises what’s happening around them.
It is not a measure of talent.
It is not a diagnosis.
It is not a comparison with other players.
It helps us understand how a player currently sees the game, and what needs to develop next.
The five levels
1. Seeing - reacting after the moment
2. Recognising - patterns start to appear
3. Anticipating - reading cues early
4. Dictating - shaping tempo and space
5. Writing the Game - understanding the full picture
Progress is always measured against the player themselves.
